Georgia names its main coal suppliers

Georgia’s coal and coal products import value in January 2022 amounted to $437,090, which is a decrease of 50.2 percent, compared to $877,980 over the same period of 2021, Trend reports via National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The volume of the imported coal and coal products over the reporting period of 2022 also decreased by 83.4 percent – from 10,540 tons to 1,747 tons.

Georgia’s value of imports of coal and coal products in January 2022 decreased by 43.7 percent, compared to the same month of 2020 ($776,480), while the volume of imports decreased by 69.9 percent (5,822 tons in January 2020).

Meanwhile, Turkey ranked first among main coal and coal products exporters to Georgia in January 2022. However, the value of the exports decreased by 21 percent, compared to $274,660 worth of coal and coal products exports in January 2021.

Georgia’s total imports in the reporting period of 2022 totaled $778.1 million – an increase of 38.5 percent, compared to $561.7 million over January 2021, and 20.5 percent, compared to the same month of 2020 ($645.4 million).
