Georgia, France eye co-op in wine making industry

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 17. France and Georgia talked about the potential of implementing joint scientific projects and research in the wine making area, Trend reports via Georgian media.

The issue was discussed at the meeting between the Director of the LEPL Scientific-Research Center of Agriculture of Georgia Levan Ujmajuridze and officials from the French National Institute of Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE).

The sides discussed creation of a database for the management of protected species in the Jigaura scientific research base, and the exchange of gene pools between the collections of grape varieties.

The priority areas of the cooperation include the strengthening of the laboratories capacity, molecular genetics, tissue culture, and plant genetic bank.
