BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 17. Georgia’s economic climate in the first quarter of 2022 has aggravated, compared to the fourth quarter of 2021, but improved, compared to the same period of 2021, Trend reports, citing the statistical data from Policy and Management Consulting Group (PMC), based on the research made by Georgian economists.

According to the research, the forecast for Georgian economy for the next 6 months is even worse. Based on the results of the survey conducted, the expected real GDP growth in Georgia for 2022 is 4.9 percent.

Meanwhile, the forecast for the particular economic sectors of Georgia for 2022 is as follows:

- Inflation rate is expected to decrease over the next six months, based on year-on-year data;

- Currently, the exchange rate of the national currency (Georgian lari) remains undervalued to euro, dollar, and Turkish lira, however, stays overvalued against Russian ruble;

- Volume of exports, as well as, the volume of imports is expected to boost over the next six months, however, the exports volume is anticipated to increase less, resulting in a worsened trade trade balance.
