BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. Georgia needs to attract additional investments in energy sector and build more hydropower plants, the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili said at the governmental briefing, Trend reports via Georgian media.
"The electricity consumption in Georgia is growing, while generation is significantly lagging behind consumption, which is a great danger for the country, for energy security and energy independence in general,” Garibashvili said.
According to the PM, the pace of the construction must be accelerated, and the relevant action plan should be submitted as soon as possible.
“The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, as well as the Ministry of Finance, are instructed to develop a plan on the hydropower facilities construction, and it will be possible to present it next week,” the PM noted.
