BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 21. International Finance Corporation (IFC) plans to increase its financial portfolio for Georgia, Trend reports via the Ministry of Finance of Georgia.

The issue was discussed at the meeting between Georgia’s Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili and IFC Acting Regional Director Damian Shiels as part of the annual spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group held in the US.

Georgia will continue to carry out reforms in such areas as improving energy security and independence, strengthening infrastructure to support the country's competitiveness, digitalization and development of innovative services, capital market reform, the minister said.

The sides emphasized the role of the private sector in economic recovery and development. Particular attention was paid to the importance of human capital reform, which is aimed at strengthening the health and education sectors, and is one of the country's main priorities in communicating with the IFC.

The parties expressed hope that IFC will further support Georgia in implementation of structural reforms through investment, consulting, and technical support.
