BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 6. Bank of Georgia has provided financial assistance to a local Gori district enterprise, which owns an apple orchard, Trend reports via Forbes Georgia.
According to the Bank, some 300,000 Georgian lari ($98,736) has been provided to the enterprise under the preferential agro-credit.
Within the loan, the enterprise was able to expand the orchard.
The enterprise plans to enlarge its sown area further, employ more people, gather about 100 tons of apples per year, and export its product to the EU, head of the enterprise, Zurab Chulukhadze, said.
The Bank of Georgia continues to support the agricultural sector by offering preferential agro-credit to its customers. The mentioned credits are oriented towards those willing to start a business, and have an agricultural plot of land and grow blueberry, hazelnut, or apple orchards.
“The preferential agro-credit gives customers the opportunity to create a modern type of garden from an empty plot of land. The purpose of creating the product was to provide easy access to financial resources for micro businessmen,” Aleksandre Melkadze, Head of Agro Business Banking at Bank of Georgia, said.
