Georgian, UN Officials Meet in New York

( Civil ) - Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues Merab Antadze and Deputy Foreign Minister Giorgi Manjgaladze met with UN Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Jean-Marie Guйhenno in New York to discuss the Abkhaz conflict resolution issue, the Georgian Foreign Ministry reported.

This meeting came before the session of the UN Security Council on April 10, which is planned to adopt a resolution of Abkhazia. Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli is expected to participate in the session and discuss Tbilisi's peace plans regarding the conflict resolution issues.

During the talks with the senior UN official the Georgian officials mostly focused on the issues of return of internally displaced persons to the entire territory of Abkhazia, the current situation in the Gali district of the breakaway region and the recent shelling in the Tbilisi-controlled upper Kodori gorge.
