Turkish Armed Forces detained 16 foreigners suspected of having ties with the “Islamic State” (aka IS, ISIL, ISIS or Daesh) terrorist group, the website of the General Staff of Turkey’s Armed Forces reported Dec. 14.
The foreigners were detained during the anti-terrorist operation in the province of Sanliurfa.
On Dec. 13, the police conducted a large scale operation in Turkey’s eastern province of Van against the IS, which resulted in detention of 12 members of the terrorist group.
The Turkish police periodically conduct operations in the country against the IS.
