The European Union condemned Israel's decision to strip the diplomatic status of the employees of the Norwegian embassy in the Jewish state, who served as representatives to the Palestinian National Authority (PNA). This position was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell on his page on the X social network.
"I strongly condemn the Israeli government's decision to strip the diplomatic status of Norwegian diplomats working with the PNA in the interests of peace and stability in the Middle East. Full solidarity with Norway," Borrell wrote.
As reported on August 8 by Dagbladet, the Norwegian Foreign Ministry summoned the head of the Israeli diplomatic mission to protest the Israeli side's decision to strip the kingdom's representatives of accreditation to the PNA. According to the Ynet portal, eight employees of the Norwegian embassy in the Jewish state actually represented Oslo to the Palestinian National Authority. The Israeli Foreign Ministry reported that the diplomatic status of these employees will expire in a week, and their visas will expire in three months. In addition, Israel will not grant accreditation to Norwegian diplomats if they are sent to serve as representatives of the kingdom to the Palestinian Authority.
