"Sharq Taronalari" Festival in Samarkand will bring together over 300 musicians from 80 countries

BAKU. Azerbaijan. August 26. "Sharq Taronalari" is considered one of the largest festivals in Central Asia, Trend reports.

The opening ceremony of the XIII International Music Festival "Sharq Taronalari" ("Melodies of the East") will take place in the historical city of Uzbekistan, Samarkand, on Monday, August 26.

The main goal of the festival is to demonstrate achievements in the field of national musical art, preserve and develop the culture and traditions of peoples, support talented youth in the field of music and singing, as well as expand international creative ties, promote ideas of peace, friendship and mutual understanding.

The festival was first held in 1997. Then, more than 100 musicians from 31 countries performed on Registan Square, the main attraction of Samarkand.

The festival is organized every two years. The last time "Sharq Taronalari" was held in 2019 with the participation of over 300 musicians from 75 countries.

Samarkand is preparing to host a grand festival after a five-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The participants will include musicians not only from Central Asian countries, but also from Austria, Azerbaijan, China, Russia, Iran, South Korea, India, Germany, Egypt, France, Great Britain and Turkey.
