Kuwait seizes 80 kg of narcotics in crackdown
Kuwait on Wednesday netted 80 kg of narcotics in "the most major busting operation ever to occur, " an official at the criminal investigation authority said, Xinhua reported.
The Interior Ministry launched an operation with the coastal guards and thwarted the shipment of illegal drugs from Iran, Major General Abdulhamid Al-Awadi said.
All those involved in the smuggling were also arrested, the official added, without disclosing the exact number of smugglers.
Smugglers have been eyeing Kuwait as a potential market although harsh punishment awaits if barred.
The Gulf Arab emirate said it remains vigilant against any attempts to smuggle illegal drugs to protect the society from any criminal activities.
