Yemeni navy captures vessel carrying arms

Yemen's navy has intercepted a vessel carrying weapons in its territorial waters at the Red Sea northwestern coast, which the security authorities alleged were from Somalia, the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday, Xinhua reported.
The vessel, sailed from the Somali coastal area Hais, was captured along with its 12 crewmembers last week off the Yemeni north western seaport of Al Hudaidah province, the ministry said on its website.
The ministry said a big amount of weapons were confiscated, but it did not say what kind of arms were on board or where the vessel was heading.
Acting on a tip-off, the Yemeni security services kept the vessel under surveillance as it set sail from Hais of Somalia until it approached the Yemeni coasts, said the ministry.
The vessel, which is in captivity of the navy forces at Al Hudaidah, was disguised as a fishing boat, the ministry added.
