Saudi Arabia on Saturday launched the world's first electronic bourse for palm dates, called Altomor Exchange, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Registration in the new exchange will begin next Saturday, while trading starts on August 7, dpa reported.
According to the Saudi Gazette newspaper, the kingdom is the world's second largest date producer, with 141,000 hectares and 21 million palms producing around 884,000 tons of dates annually.
