Egyptian Red Crescent offers food aid to Gaza

The Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) on Sunday offered 93 tons of food aid to Gaza, Xinhua reported.
Six trucks carrying 93 tons of rice offered by the ERC to the people of Gaza departed from Egypt's Mediterranean city of El- Arish, ERC chief in north Sinai Osama El-Sergany told Xinhua.
The shipment was taken to Oujah crossing at Egyptian-Israeli borders where it was unloaded and taken to Gaza on board other trucks via Kerem Shalom crossing point between Israel and Gaza near the Egyptian border, he added.
The aid shipment will be handed to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency.
Israel imposed a tight blockade on Gaza three years ago after the Hamas movement violently took over the territory, where some 1.5 million Palestinians live.
