Iraq's recently-reappointed Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is to submit the list of his minister designates to the country's parliament by Monday, PressTV reported.
"This morning, I presented a request to the presidency of the parliament from the prime minister for a session to be held on Monday to present the cabinet," AFP quoted Minister of State of Parliamentary Affairs Safaldin al-Safi as saying on Saturday.
"If Maliki finds that the candidates for a ministry are not suitable, he will take responsibility as acting minister in that ministry until a replacement is found," Safi added.
The breakthrough followed a meeting on government formation among Maliki, Ayad Allawi and Ibrahim al-Jaafari -- the country's former premiers, who function respectively as the head of al-Iraqiya parliamentary bloc and parliament member.
Allawi and Maliki's coalitions came respectively first and second in Iraq's March parliamentary elections. The country, however, staggered across a political limbo for long as neither managed to secure an absolute majority.
Rivals, however, agreed recently to reinstate President Jalal al-Talabani and Maliki.
Allawi will join Maliki's government as the head of newly-created National Council for Strategic Policies. The 20-member body will closely monitor Maliki's major security and foreign policy decisions.
The Iraqi parliament is yet to come to a firm decision on the scope of authority the new council should be granted.
