Gunmen killed five people on Friday in Baghdad, according to a police source, Xinhua reported.
Unidentified gunmen stormed a house in Hussaini district in northeastern Baghdad, killing the parents and three children before they fled the scene, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Police have transferred the victims' bodies to the morgue, he added.
Civilians were randomly attacked by insurgents as part of attempts to spread horror and uncertainties among Iraqi people.
Violence and sporadic high-profile bomb attacks continue in the Iraqi cities despite the dramatic decrease of violence over the last three years.
