A man set himself on fire in front of the Egyptian Parliament early Monday morning while chanting slogans against the state security, said eye witnesses, Xinhua reported.
Abdo Abdel Hameed, a restaurant owner, poured a container of petrol on himself before lighting a match to burn himself, reported Al Masry Al Youm Newspaper's website.
According to eye witnesses, guards tried to contain the flame, and used fire extinguisher to put out the fire.
An ambulance car arrived at the scene and took Abdel Hameed to a nearby hospital.
