Oman says it has detected an espionage ring tasked by the United Arab Emirates with spying on the affairs of its government and military, Press TV reported.
"Security services uncovered a spying network belonging to the state security apparatus of the United Arab Emirates," Reuters quoted the state Oman News Agency as saying on Sunday.
The spy network was "targeting the ruling regime in Oman and the way its government and military work," it added.
The discovery defied the good relations between the two sides.
Some two months ago, a number of Omani nationals, some employed by the government, were arrested, said an unnamed Omani government source.
The news agency said the suspects would have to stand trial.
