A group of 24 beauty queens who flew to Egypt to pose in the sun for photos are to leave early because of the spreading unrest, organizers of the Miss Germany competition said Tuesday, dpa reported.
The women, aged 17 to 24, had been flown to Hurghada in Egypt as their prize for winning provincial competitions and for photo shootings and promotional events. They are vying for the Miss Germany prize at a February 12 beauty parade in Rust, Germany.
Organizer Ralf Klemmer said the return flight, originally scheduled for Saturday, had been shifted forward to Thursday.
He said there had been no demonstrations in Hurghada, 500 kilometres from Cairo, but the women were ordered to stay in the hotel compound at all times. The early return was purely precautionary, based on German government travel advice.
