ElBaradei: Mubarak must step down with dignity

Opposition figure Mohamed ElBaradei repeated Friday his calls for President Hosny Mubarak to "step down with dignity", warning otherwise Egypt would sink into paralysis and chaos, DPA reported.

"He has lost his legitimacy," said the Nobel Peace Prize laureate. "The people want democracy in a new state," the former head of the UN nuclear watchdog told Arabic broadcaster al-Jazeera.

ElBaradei insisted "today will be peaceful, but we will not end the protest until freedom." He also dismissed concerns raised by some in the West about the Muslim Brotherhood, saying they posed no threat in a post-Mubarak Egypt, and this was being raised only as scare tactic.
