At least 500 people have been killed in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi since the unrest began in the country, dpa reported according to a security source.
He was citing medical sources at the Jala hospital in Benghazi.
Protesters had gained control of Benghazi after violent clashes with security and mercenaries that began on February 15.
