Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu will pay an official visit to Bahrain upon the invitation of Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khaled bin Ahmad al-Khalifa, Turkish media outlets reported. The visit date has not yet been determined.
During the visit Davutoglu will hold meetings with Bahraini senior officials and representatives of political circles.

During the visit to Bahrain, Davutoglu will discuss bilateral relations between the two countries and current developments in the region.
Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister said that Ankara is concerned about events in Bahrain and is concerned that they could potentially lead to international conflict. Davutoglu said that the tensions in relations between Sunnis and Shiites in Bahrain could engulf the region.

As of February, Shiite opposition parties are protesting actions in Bahrain involving many thousands of people demanding for more rights and greater influence in the country by Sunni Muslims. Seven people were killed and hundreds were injured in clashes with police.
