Jordan says bin Laden's death will end anti-Islam campaign

The Jordanian government on Monday said the killing of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden will help end the "unjust campaign" against Islam, dpa reported.

"The killing of bin Laden comes as part of the international anti- terrorism campaign, while his absence will contribute to the ending of the West's unjust campaign against Islam," a government spokesman was quoted as saying by the state-run Petra news agency, in the first official reaction to Sunday's operation.

"The world community should now work positively to resolve the Palestinian question which is being used as a pretext for al-Qaeda's terrorist operations, so that an independent Palestinian state can be set up with East Jerusalem as its capital and the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes be recognized," he said.
