At least 3 soldiers killed in suicide bomb attack in west of Baghdad
At least three soldiers were killed and six others wounded in a suicide bomb attack against a crowd of Iraqi army soldiers in west of Baghdad on Thursday, a local police source said.
The attack took place in the afternoon when a suicide bomber blew up his explosive-belt among a crowd of Iraqi soldiers in al- Shuhadaa neighborhood in Abu Ghraib area, some 20 km west of Baghdad, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Iraqi security forces cordoned off the scene, as ambulances evacuated the victims to nearby hospitals and medical centers, the source said.
Violence in the country underscore the challenges that the Iraqi security forces are facing as they struggle to restore stability and normalcy in Iraqi cities about eight months before the departure of all American forces by the end of 2011.
