Twenty-six people were killed Tuesday when a military plane crashed in southern Morocco, according to an unconfirmed report from a Moroccan news website.

Twenty-six people were killed Tuesday when a military plane crashed in southern Morocco, according to an unconfirmed report from a Moroccan news website.

Four people were injured, the goud.ma website reported.

The C-130 transport plane carried 70 people.

It crashed when landing at the airport of the city of Guelmim, the report said. The plane was coming from Laayoune in Western Sahara.

The cause of the accident was not immediately known. Some reports said the plane had hit a mountain.

Dozens of ambulances were dispatched to the area, witnesses said.

The army opened an investigation into the accident
