Speaker of Yemen's Upper House of Parliament Abdulaziz Abdulghani, died in Saudi Arabia on Monday of injuries he sustained in a June bomb attack on President Ali Abdullah Saleh's presidential palace, the Yemeni Defense Ministry said.

Abdulghani is the first senior official of Saleh's government who died in the Saudi hospital in Riyadh of wounds he suffered from the explosion on the presidential palace's mosque on June 3, leaving Saleh and other 87 Yemeni officials hospitalized in Saudi Arabia, Xinhuanet reported.

Abdulghani, the speaker of the Upper House of Parliament which is also known as Shura Council since 2001, has been a member of the county's higher presidential council from 1990 to 1994 and prime minister from 1994 to 1997.

A government official said Abdulghani will be buried in Yemeni capital Sanaa on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the government said a joint team of Yemeni-U.S. investigators have accomplished 80 percent of the investigation into the June assassination attempt, adding that the findings would soon be published.
