Yemen's Defense Ministry announced that the leader of "Al Qaeda" terrorist organization Anwar al-Awlaki was killed, "Al Arabiya" TV channel said.

The ministry's statement said that several other members of the organization, who were with him, were also killed.

Yemeni authorities said that al-Awlaki was killed in December last year. But it was revealed that this information was false.

The U.S. authorities have included al-Awlaki in the list of people in April 2010 who must be arrested or killed. In November 2010, Yemeni authorities accused al-Awlaki of inciting to murder foreigners and organizing an armed gang. In February 2011, the U.S. authorities announced that al-Awlaki represented more danger than Al Qaeda's leader Osama bin Laden.
