Fighting re-erupts in Tripoli

Clashes erupted on Friday in the Libyan capital Tripoli between loyalists to deposed leader Moamer Gaddafi and forces loyal to the country interim rulers.

The gun battle was going on in the southern Abu Salim district, which has been a stronghold of Gaddafi's supporters, witnesses said.

The district, which is near to Gaddafi's former residence compound Bab al-Azizya, saw the heaviest fighting when the forces loyal to the country's rulers entered Tripoli in August.
