Amnesty International urges transfer of Gaddafi's son to ICC

Human rights group Amnesty International on Saturday called on Libya's rulers to transfer Saif al-Islam, son of slain leader Moamer Gaddafi, to face trial at the International Criminal Court (ICC), dpa reported.

Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui, Amnesty International's Middle East and North Africa Deputy Director said that Saif al-Islam Gaddafi "must be handed over to the ICC, and his safety and rights must be guaranteed."

The London-based group said that it held the National Transitional Council responsible for protecting Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, after the controversial death of his father and brother Mutassim Gaddafi, "so that he can face justice for his alleged crimes in a fair trial with no death penalty."
