The commander of the United Nations Interim forces in southern Lebanon (UNFIL) has described the firing of rockets from Lebanon into Israel as a "serious" incident that risks increasing instability to the region dpa reported
"The incident is serious, it is clearly directed at undermining stability in the area," UNIFIL Commander Major-General Alberto Asarta Cuevas said in a statement.
"It is imperative to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of this attack and we will spare no efforts to this end, working in cooperation with the Lebanese Army Forces (LAF)," he added.
The UN commander called for maximum restraint in order to prevent any escalation of the situation, saying UNIFIL had detected the launch "of at least one rocket and started its investigations."
