Walid Othmani, head of the Tunisian border patrol abducted by armed Libyans on Saturday near the Tunisian-Libyan border, returned home on Sunday, Xinhua quoted the official TAP news agency as reporting.

The border guard, who suffered from a gunshot injury in the leg, was immediately taken to a hospital near the Tunisian capital of Tunis.

Othmani's father said his son had managed to escape with the help of Libyans in Zouara and Jadou, and had been taken to a hospital in the Libyan capital of Tripoli, TAP reported.

On Saturday, a four-men Tunisian border patrol was abducted in El Aguel region near the border with Libya by several armed Libyans. Three of the guards had managed to escape, while Othmani was taken away.

Tunisian Interior Minister Ali Laarayedh visited Othmani in the hospital and said the incident was resolved and all necessary measures would be adopted to prevent similar events.
