Two people were killed and 36 wounded in clashes between rival Libyan militia in southwestern Libya, TRT English reported.
The clashes took place between militias from the towns of Gharyan and al-Asabia.
Interim Defence Minister Osama al-Juwali rushed to Gharyan, 80 km south of Tripoli to try to halt battles between the militias of that town and neighbouring al-Asabia.
Libya's interim government is struggling to control disparate armed groups, many of which fought hard in the campaign to topple Gaddafi but are now refusing to disarm, saying they do not trust the country's new rulers.
