Yemen's president promises to crush Al-Qaeda

In his first public speech since coming to power the president of Yemen Abdrakhman Mansoor Hadi vowed to crush the militants of the group "al-Qaeda", Voice of Russia reported.

The new president also promised to unite the army which is now fragmented and to modernize the armed forces of Yemen.

In February Abdrakhman Mansour Hadi, as the head of the country, first issued a decree on the restructuring of the army and the resignation of military leaders who had connections with former President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
