International envoy Kofi Annan said Tuesday he still remains optimistic that the UN Security Council can hammer out an agreement on Syria, despite tough stances from all sides, dpa reported.
Annan said he hoped that the Security Council members would be able to find formulations that would be acceptable "for all", after meeting in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he could see reason for optimism, noting that Russia had recently signed off on an agreement regarding Syria during an international meeting in Geneva.
