Syrian crisis should be solved without outside interference and based on the documents adopted by the country. In particular the decisions of the UN Security Council's head, Kofi Annan and the plan of the final communiqué of the ministerial meeting 'Action Group on Syria' in Geneva, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday.
According to him the Syrian crisis has become one of the most pressing international issues and it is unacceptable either to look at it blankly, nor to support any side.
"I call to ensure that all foreign players, including my colleagues - CICA participants demand that all warring parties should immediately stop the bloodshed and ensure that the Syrians themselves without mercenaries of course, begin negotiations and a joint search for national reconciliation on a collectively agreed basis," Lavrov said.
He noted that Russia firmly supports the efforts of the Special Representative of the UN and the Arab League on Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi.
Lavrov also expressed concern about the situation in Afghanistan which is formed in the country on the background of the "highly controversial statements about the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan in 2014, but foreign bases remaining there."
"We need a peaceful Afghanistan, not supporting terrorist and narcotic threats to peace and stability in the region" Lavrov said. He urged his CICA colleagues to maximise transparency in all actions in Afghanistan.
He added that the current international issues such as the Iranian nuclear programme and the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula are where Russia sees no alternative solution to both problems except negotiation.
