At least five people were killed Wednesday when a residential building collapsed in Egypt's coastal city of Alexandria, the state news agency reported.
Rescue teams were searching for any survivors under the rubble of the 12-floor building, the report said.
Egypt has suffered several such accidents in recent years, mostly blamed on building code violations, dpa reported.
In 2008, a rockslide buried a shanty town at the foot of a cliff in Cairo, killing more than 100 people.
