Syria welcomes "historic" Iran nuclear deal
Syria welcomed the nuclear deal reached by Iran and six world powers as a "historic"agreement, state media reported Sunday, dpa reported.
Iran is a key ally of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
"Syria believes that reaching such agreement is evidence that political solutions to the crises of the region are the best means to ensure the security and stability of the region far from foreign intervention and threats to use force," a Foreign Ministry official said, according to the SANA news agency.
The agreement paves the way to free the Middle East of weapons of mass destruction, the unnamed official said, but accused Israel of being the only obstacle by refusing to put its nuclear facilities under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
