Knesset MPs Permit German Chancellor to Deliver Speech in German Language

Israel, Jerusalem / Trend corr. R.Abdullayev / The Knesset Committee has permitted Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor to deliver a speech to the Israeli Parliament in the German, MIGNEWS reported.

The German Chancellor will deliver the speech in front of MPs on 12 March. By the rules of Knesset, heads of States may deliver speeches in their native languages.

Arye Eldad. An MP from the National Unity - MAFDAL party stated that it would be unbearable to hear the German language in Knesset. His parents were killed by Nazis. MPs believe that if the Chancellor was not allowed to deliver a speech in her native language it may cause a serious diplomatic crisis between the countries. David Tal, an MP from the Kadim party, said that Israel should warmly receive Germany.
