Two Palestinian rockets fired from the Gaza Strip have landed on Israel as the impoverished region is still vying to fight back against a crippling blockade, Press TV reported.
Palestinian sources say that the two rockets hit buildings in the Israeli desert of Negev on Wednesday night, causing damage but no casualties.
The rocket attack came a day after Israeli warplanes bombed an area close to the Gaza Strip's border with Egypt and destroyed two buildings and two cars. Several tunnels -- used to import food, medicine and other vital supplies by Gazans who have been under an Israeli siege since June 2007 -- were also destroyed in the air strikes.
Israel launched a three-week war against the Gaza population on December 27 with the aim of halting the retaliatory rocket-firings. Tel Aviv, however, declared a unilateral ceasefire on January 18.
The Israeli assault killed 1,330 Palestinians and wounded 5,450 others -- a large number of whom women and children.
In spite of a ceasefire, Israel has been hitting targets in the Palestinian territory on a regular basis.
Palestinian fighters in Gaza have promised to end rocket attacks into Israel should Tel Aviv stop its military operations against the Palestinians and lift the blockade on the strip.
