Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak approved a military request Friday night to increase the number of reserve soldiers it could mobilize, as fighting between Israel and Gaza militants continued unabated for the third day, DPA reported.
Israeli media gave the number of reserve soldiers liable for call up as 75,000 - some 45,000 more than the 30,000 whose call up was approved on Thursday.
On Friday morning a military spokeswoman said 16,000 reservists have already been called up.
