AT&T names new Yellow Pages head

( Bizjournals ) - Denny Payne, president and chief executive of AT&T Advertising & Publishing, announced his retirement Sept. 11.

His post has been filled by Frank Jules, who most recently served as senior vice president of global business solutions for AT&T Operations Inc.

St. Louis-based AT&T Advertising & Publishing is the world's largest print and online Yellow Pages with $5.8 billion in annual revenue. The unit employs more than 650 people here.

Payne has worked at AT&T for 33 years, beginning his AT& T career as a directory sales representative in Kansas City in 1974.

"On behalf of all of us at AT&T, I want to personally thank Denny for his many contributions and his dedicated leadership of Advertising & Publishing over his long career -- an amazing 33 years in the directory business," Ray Wilkins, group president-diversified businesses for AT&T, said in a statement. "He has provided strong leadership that's emphasized a real commitment to our customers. All of us wish him the very best in retirement."

San Antonio, Texas-based AT&T Inc. provides local and long-distance telephone and Internet service in Missouri and Illinois.
