Ukrainian President Insists on Immediate Closure of Mine Zasadko

Ukraine, Kiev / Trend corr. Z.Novosvitski / The Ukrainian President Viktor Yushenko insisted on the immediate close of the mine A.Zasadko until an explanation is found for the recent tragedy, the state press-service reported on 3 December.

Five miners died and 66 were taken to hospital as a result of a third explosion in the mine on 2 December.

As a result of the first and third explosions some 106 miners died. Some 156 miners taken to hospital.

The results of the investigations into the accidents requested by the President to the Prime Minister Victor Yanukovich are to be submitted to him within three days.
