( USA TODAY )- The second week of American Idol eliminations is a crucial one. If they survive, they are guaranteed a spot on the season's Idol tour later in the year - a chance to prolong the dream and maybe impress a record label.
So the question of who would join David Hernandez in the ranks of the departed was a tense one. Surprisingly, preordained favorite Carly Smithson was placed in the bottom three with, unsurprisingly, Kristy Lee Cook and Amanda Overmyer. But no upsets - rocking Indiana nurse Overmyer, 23, won't be touring.
