Thandie Newton's secret to a happy marriage is forcing her husband to talk to her. ( FF )
The 'Crash' actress - who has been married to writer-and-director Oliver Parker for ten years - says the only way a husband and wife can last the course in the movie industry is by being completely open with each other.
She said: "You have to always make time to be together, trusting your instincts and forcing each other to talk. It's all about communication and working through difficult times together.
"I'm really lucky we became so inseparable before pressure like marriage, children and work came along. In this business it's very hard for a relationship to survive."
Thandie has also revealed she has a number of celebrity friends, including Tom Cruise, who she can speak to about her fame-related problems.
She added: "I don't see Nicole very often because she lives in Sydney, Australia, but I hear about her on the grapevine as we have lots of friends in common, like Tom.
"I see him now and again too, and I met Katie Holmes for the first time the other day. She was really lovely."
