( dpa )- The United States congratulated Pakistan's prime minister-to-be, Yousuf Raza Gillani , on his election on Monday to head the government of the close US ally in the war on terrorism.
"We look forward to working with Mr Gillani and his government," State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said.
Gillani is set to be sworn in on Tuesday following his Pakistan People's Party victory in February elections. Gillani was a close ally of Banazir Bhutto, who headed the PPP until her December 27 assassination.
