EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana on Tuesday criticised as "not wise" Russia's announcement that it is boosting troop numbers in separatist regions of Georgia, the Eubusiness.com reported.
"It is not wise to increase the number of Russian peacekeepers in Georgia right now," said Solana at a joint press conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Russia's defence ministry earlier Tuesday announced it was beefing up its peacekeeping forces in Abkhazia and South Ossetia in response to what it called aggressive moves by pro-Western Georgia.
