The official death toll from Cyclone Nargis is now 78,000, Myanmar state-media said Friday, dpa reported.
The death toll had reached 78,000 people while 56,000 remained missing, the BBC quoted Myanmar state television as saying.
Representatives of some of the 16 aid organizations working together for cyclone relief have said that a true figure of dead and missing was difficult to know, but it has been estimated by the UN and the Red Cross at well above 100,000.
