Bush leaves Rome for Paris

President George W Bush flew Friday out of Rome for Paris, ending a three-day visit to Italy's capital which included talks with Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and a meeting with Pope Benedict XVI in Vatican City, reported dpa.

Bush, accompanied by his wife Laura, left on the presidential plane Air Force One from Rome's Ciampino military airport at around 1040 GMT.

Earlier on Friday morning, Bush visited Benedict at the Vatican, where the two held half-an-hour of private talks before taking a stroll together in the Vatican gardens.

On Thursday, Bush met Italian President Giorgio Napolitano and held afternoon talks with Berlusconi followed by a dinner.

The US president flew in to Rome on Wednesday from Berlin - the previous leg of his last European tour as president which includes Slovenia, Germany, France, Italy, Britain and Northern Ireland.
