Taiwan, in another sign of improved cross-straits ties, said Thursday that it will allow more Chinese media outlets to post reporters in Taiwan, dpa reported.

Liu Teh-shun, spokesman for the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC), said while there are already five Chinese news organizations allowed to post reporters in Taiwan, Taipei will allow five more Chinese news organizations to do so.

All Chinese news organizations can apply to send reporters to Taiwan, and MAC will give approval to five of them, he said. The deadline for sending the application is the end of September.

Currently China allows Taiwanese reporters to cover news in China on a rotating basis, with each reporter allowed to remain up to three months.

On July 4, Taiwan launched weekend charter flights with China and opened the door to Chinese tour groups. Taipei has also loosened restrictions in many other areas, including trade and investment with China.
