(dpa) - Another fateful blow for US actress Christina Applegate: Only four weeks after the death of her boyfriend, the 36-year-old actress has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
But her spokesperson told People magazine on Sunday that it was an "early form of breast cancer" and she was benefiting from "early detection."
The magnetic resonating image (MRI) had shown the "cancer is not life threatening," the spokesperson said.
"Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery," the spokesperson said.
Applegate is best known for her roles in the TV series "Married ... with Children" and "Samatha Who?" and was nominated for a Tony award for her 2005 appearance in Broadway's "Sweet Charity."
In early July, her friend Lee Grivas was found dead in his apartment at age 26. The cause of death has not been determined.
Applegate plans to participate in a September 8 telethon Stand Up to Cancer with fellow actresses Meryl Streep, Sally Field, Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansson and Charlize Theron.
